Dining in Amsterdam

De Kas
When restaurants say that their food is made from fresh ingredients, they probably don't mean that it was picked just hours ago from a nearby garden. Well, when De Kas Restaurant says the same thing, it is because the ingredients were literally picked hours ago from a nearby garden. The garden belongs to the restaurant and is just a few feet away from the building. It houses dozens of spice plants, herb bushes and produce plants. The chefs at De Kas obviously take fresh food very seriously.

La Rive
The décor and dishes are as fancy and French as the name. La Rive is the place to wine and dine a very important client or a beautiful date. The restaurant is superbly elegant and the food resembles a work of extraordinary art. Reserve the chef's table for the most special of occasions. This is where special guests are actually served by the chef personally. Everyone feels like a VIP at La Rive.

Brasserie Harkema
Take a culinary ride around the world while dining at the refreshingly relaxed yet stylish Brasserie Harkema. The menu features everything from classic American apple pie to expertly made Italian tiramisu. Lunch and dinner menus feature something for everyone and everything is cooked to order. When the weather is right, take your dish outside to the delightful rooftop terrace and feast on the city view while you chew!

Vertigo
Vertigo's menu can't exactly be described as Dutch or French. It is just plain delicious with items such as goat cheese pesto salad and fried ham and cheese focaccia bread. The options are limited to just a handful of dishes but that is because Vertigo makes the perfection of each order their top priority. This is also a great place to start the day with a warm croissant and award-winning coffee.

Firma Pekelhaaring
While the name may make you think that this is a fish restaurant, you would be wrong. This is the name of perhaps the most popular Italian café in all of Amsterdam. The restaurant staff does not, however, assume that the people of Amsterdam will understand menu items such as spaghetti so all the items are in Dutch. This funny quirk, while not being intentionally funny, has put this restaurant on the map of dining in Holland. While the food and the low prices keeps people coming back for more.
